While the city has cancelled all recreation programs and closed all buildings to the public, we’d like to remind you that the city’s parks and trails are still open.

The COVID-19 outbreak is a stressful time for many, and this can raise issues with physical and mental health.  Connecting with the green space found in parks and along trails has been shown to have a positive benefit to physical and mental well-being.  Because of this, we encourage you to get outside and experience the many benefits parks and trails have to offer.

While it’s important to get outside, we discourage you from using play areas.  Play area surfaces are not disinfected so we recommend being safe and staying off of them.  We encourage kids to find other ways to be active outsideVisit the Crystal Recreation Facebook Page for ideas.

When social distancing at one of our many parks, we encourage you to follow these guidelines:

  • Do not use parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms
  • Follow CDC guidance on personal hygiene prior to visiting
  • Share the trail and open spaces with others while keeping a 6’ distance from other persons at all times.  This is particularly true at the dog park where overcrowding could be a concern.

Our local parks and trails are places where people can find peace and restoration. These places are needed for physical and mental help at this time.  So, go ahead and take a walk on a trail or in a park, but please do so safely!
